NetDirector Continues to Exceed Industry Security and Compliance Standards with SOC 2 and HIPAA/HITECH Audit Completion

Tampa, FL – November 28th, 2023 – Cloud-based data integration provider NetDirector has recently undergone their annual SOC 2 ® and HIPAA compliance examinations with the help of international security audit firm, A-LIGN. After rigorous analysis, NetDirector was awarded with complete attestations in compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and SOC 2 Type II standards. More than just benchmarks in compliance, these security standards are the most important foundation for the secure handling of customer data in both the healthcare and mortgage banking industries.

About SOC 2: SOC 2, or System and Organization Controls 2, is an examination under AICPA standards designed for technology service companies to demonstrate controls around data security and processing integrity. The SOC 2 reports are intended to meet the needs of a broad range of users (particularly those in legal, healthcare, and other industries with stringent regulations) that need to understand internal controls at a service organization as it relates to security, availability, process integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. The Type II report is a report on management’s description of a service organization’s system and the suitability of the design and operating effectiveness of controls.

ABOUT HIPAA/HITECH: The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, or HIPAA, defines policies and procedures, as well as processes, which are required of companies that store, process, or handle electronic health information that is considered “protected” (ePHI). HIPAA compliance is essential for both technology service providers and integrators like NetDirector, as well as providers, electronic health records systems, billing platforms, and any other entity who might have access to healthcare data even in passing.

The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act was created to promote and expand the adoption of health information technology, specifically, the use of electronic health records (EHRs) by healthcare providers. The HITECH Act also removed loopholes in HIPAA by tightening up the language. This helped to ensure that business associates of HIPAA covered entities were complying with HIPAA Rules and notifications were sent to affected individuals when health information was compromised.

Both the SOC 2 and the HIPAA audit were performed by Tampa-based global cybersecurity and compliance professional services provider A-LIGN. A-LIGN specializes in helping businesses across a variety of industries navigate the complexities of compliance audits and security assessments, and both the SOC 2 and HIPAA reports of A-LIGN’s findings can be made available to prospective or current customers as part of a full security review.

“As always, NetDirector is deeply committed to successfully protecting our customers and their data,” said Harry Beisswenger, NetDirector CEO. “A secure data integration environment requires constant vigilance and innovation. Our team excels at maintaining security, and we’re grateful to be able to demonstrate our expertise through the audit process.”

NetDirector Collaborates with Mend to Create Fully Integrated Automated Patient Payment Solution for Healthcare

Tampa, FL –MARCH 28, 2023 – NetDirector, the cloud-based data exchange and integration-as-a-service, has teamed up with leading telehealth platform Mend to create a platform agnostic, seamless patient payment experience called Automated Patient Payments (APP).

The new APP service provides powerful and configurable end-to-end payment options to complete patient payments in a modern, accessible way. In a 2021 survey, healthcare providers identified that at least 51% of billing is still conducted with paper bills through the mail. Contrasting this statistic, over 91% of patients said they would prefer to receive their bill and pay electronically, as they have become accustomed to in other industries.

“Being able to collaborate and extend our existing relationship with Mend to craft the Automated Patient Payments service is a huge boon to not just our current customers, but to the healthcare payment industry as a whole,” said Harry Beisswenger, CEO of NetDirector.

APP is designed to take healthcare away from paper and the perception of outdated processes. By providing automated and secure SMS and email options, the APP service enables providers to improve their revenue cycle while reducing the burden of billing on providers and patients alike. During initial implementations of the APP service, over 44% of payment forms provided via APP were completed within the first 24 hours following receipt – a marked increase over paper or manual electronic billing.

“NetDirector has been a great partner in integration, and leveraging their platform to make APP available regardless of EHR or billing system has been game-changing,” said Matt McBride, at Mend. “We want to improve the healthcare payment ecosystem at large, and technology like this is a major step in ensuring that patients and providers alike are free to focus on the health and well-being of the patient throughout the care lifecycle.”
